Week 3 of the Snowflake challenge!!

Challenge #8

Talk about a current fannish project (fic, art, vid, crochet, funko pop village) (that you are creating or enjoying)

I haven’t written anything substantial for years because my hyperfixation was broken and re-directed into a game called FiveM where you roleplay – tell stories in real time. So this year, my aim is to have at least a handful of stories and beat the wordcount total of the skinny years.

In 2020 I wrote 21.000 words, in 2021 I wrote 31.000 words, which, in itself isn’t bad at all. But it was padded with stories about some characters in FiveM… 2023 looked quite lean, even though I had started a long ass fandom story in 2020. But I wrote a total of 8.000 words and that… was disappointing. And I abandoned that big fandom story because sheesh.

So, this means that I roughly have to write more than 60.000 words this year, which is more than fine for a goal of mine to re-integrate myself back into story writing. I certainly have been more active on my website, with the Snowflake challenge being a part of it, but also extra blogs. Just so that I can kick my brain in gear.

I have to have written 7000 words by the end of this month; this is a personal goal.

I did start a fandom project, and wrote around 4000 words of NOTES. It’s what people can usually expect of me these days, The Originals/Twilight. It’s going to be Kaleb heavy (what was his life like before Esther decided to push a ghost inside of him?) and LIKELY Kol/Bella as an endgame, even though my brain has been spitting out alternatives. This is kinda scary because my notes are only up until Kaleb isn’t Kaleb anymore.

I’m in two minds because of this; do I plot further along or do I pants the rest because I am usually a pantser – because I haven’t been writing for years I decided not to be but there is wiggle room.

This story so far has:

  • Chapter One fully written
  • Chapter Two started
  • NO TITLE
  • A playlist with NO TITLE which might get changed over anyway because I think the vibe of the playlist is wrong
  • And seeing as it has NO TITLE, it also doesn’t have a banner yet.

But that’s okay.

Now, if I can just stop playing Hearthstone all day, that would be grand. I need to write, damnit.

Challenge #9

Rec Us Your Newest Thing.

I… having some trouble with this one.

I guess my newest thing is that I’m trying to get back into writing stories. I have been trying for the past year or so, but now I actually managed to quit my hyperfixation onto FiveM roleplay and…

Now I’m playing Heartstone and Banished a lot.

Look, it’s progress, okay. It’s… progress.

In any case, I’m watching all my comfort shows and they’re not necessarily new. For some reason I don’t have the attention span to get into something new.

I’ve been re-watching the following:

  • Hustle (BBC) – A group of con-artists working together to get revenge/ruin rich people.
  • Hotel Babylon – Posh hotel in the middle of London
  • Leverage – A group of con-artists working together to get revenge/ruin rich people | It’s American. It’s flashier.

Oh! And I have been watching new things!

ECHO!  along with Loki, I’m kind of enjoying the slower-paced, more character-driven, stories that Marvel is putting out on the small screen. Echo’s just been wonderfully done.

Challenge #10

Five Things! The five things are totally up to you.

Ugh. Uhm. I’ve looked at other people’s responses and they’re like five fave ships, five fave communities, five… random things… I’m pretty dead set on not shipping canonically and (usually) only shipping while writing crossovers.

So… Hmm…

Here’s a list of some youtube channels that I follow in 5 catagories.

  1. COOKING: Struggle Meals | Sorted Food | Haven’t made any of their recipes (yet) but I willllll eventually. Humor and fun is what’s good about these.
  2. ANIMALS: Girl with the dogs and Girl with the dogs 2 | Sarcastic dog groomer giving interesting information about the animal she’s grooming and showing the transformation of the animal she is grooming. Sandi Brock | Sheep farmer
  3. FANDOM/GEEKY STUFF: Viva La Dirt League | Three nerdy guys creating fannish content. The Hillywood Show  | Two sisters creating fannish content, parodies!
  4. HOMESTEADING (I don’t have a homestead nor a house with a garden – yet): Gold Shaw Farm | The Hollar Homestead | Sow the LandLiving Traditions Homestead | Cooking, farming, animals. Oh, don’t forget the animals.
  5. GOOD PEOPLE DOING GOOD DEEDS: Chaos Divers | Josh Cantu | Depths of History | Exploring with Nug | They give back to their community and find the missing in the water while they try clean up the water at the same time.

BONUS: Ghost Town Living and Ghost Town Two | Brent bought an abandoned mining town a few years back and is restoring it, and going through the mines and actually lives there.
