“I guess so,” Kol said happily as they moved towards the compound through alleys and over rooftops. Despite having made the choices he had only a few moments ago that had him now moving Marcel’s dead body back to the compound while being accompanied by a Cold One, he didn’t feel confident that this was going to work.
Claiming things back was Elijah’s and Niklaus’ thing. Not his. He was the annoying sibling. Kol was the one who waited to see what happened and not making things happen in terms of their vampire kingdom. But he needed to do this. To make sure he was safe, to make sure Bella was safe and away from Débauche. He would be able to put the compound in Bella’s name and make sure that Niklaus couldn’t enter and dagger him.
Granted, this would only anger the hybrid more and likely catch Kol unaware if he’d leave the compound, but he could deal with him later. The main thing was to survive this; to reclaim the compound in their name and protect himself from Niklaus before telling him that he killed Marcel by accident. Well, not by accident. Marcel pissed him off and insulted Bella. Control had always been an issue with Kol. Nik knew that, but this was pretty unforgivable, wasn’t it?
“Amazing how you can run on full speed and still manage to doubt yourself,” Jasper replied amused after they had gotten to a standstill around the corner of the compound. “To be scared.”
“It’s alright to admit it,” Jasper countered, a playful smile on his face. “I won’t think any less of you.”
“If you’re going to keep on shrinking me, you’re going to be in a lot of trouble,” he said, slightly distracted as they passed a sports store. Throwing Marcel’s body at Jasper, Kol smirked. “I’ll be right back.”
Jasper didn’t even have time to frown when not long after, Kol re-emerged with a baseball bat, causing Jasper to grin. He loved baseball. “Promise me you’ll allow me to take a swing too, if necessary.”
“We likely don’t need it,” Kol shrugged as he twirled the bat in his hand. “You good for carrying him round the corner?”
