2018 story recap

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What? I’m early? Again? What’s your problem? *shrugs*

Every year I’m doing a ‘year in recap’ thing for the stories I published that year. Everything prior to 2014 is located elsewhere, because it was time for a fresh start!

Here was a recap of 2014
And this one is of 2015
And this one is of 2016
And this one is of 2017

So, here’s what I did in 2018.

Stories I wrote in 2018:

Intertwined (fanfiction.net | website) Twilight/The Originals | Bella/Kol, Myriam/Klaus
Bella was born and raised in captivity with the Cullens, bred and designed by the enigmatic Dr. Carlisle Cullen to be a grand creation. When Bella is sent on a mission by the Cullens and is left to her devices, she is eventually faced with family she never knew and must come to terms with details about herself and the past to get her happy ending.

Underground Railroad (fanfiction.net | website) Twilight/Teen Wolf | Bella/Isaac, Myriam/Klaus
What happens when you find out you’ve been lied to your entire life about your entire existence? You run away from your fiancé with the food truck guy! Bella meets new werewolves, vampires, and hybrids on this new adventure of her life. Oh yeah, and she has a brother.

Lagniappe (fanfiction.net | website) The Originals | Klaus/Myriam
Myriam du Mer is destined to live out her life in poverty until a chance meeting with a vampire changes the course. Did she kidnap him or was it the other way around? In any case, the Mikaelsons end up with something extra, a bonus. This, of course, can never end well. Or can it? Can the Mikaelsons have a happy ending?

* note: I added Lagniappe even though it’s not finished posting because for the members of Fictional Retreat the whole story is already available and hidden behind a password. All chapters are up.

Total Word Count: 321.083 words. That is 118.592 words MORE than last year. I thought I’d write significantly less because I’ve been really busy with the radio stuff but wow.

Did Meeko and I finish Between Heaven and Hell? Nope. I did add more chapters to it though, and we now have another comfortable bed to sit on with some extra chapters. It’s not finished yet. We’ll work on it when we feel like it 😉 Between Heaven and Hell is just such a great story to play around in!

How has my writing changed from last year to this year, according to me: Not. Or maybe… I don’t know. It was fun to go from dark (Intertwined) to light (Underground Railroad) and a mixture of those two (Lagniappe).

I suppose the only thing that has changed is that I’ve started to use my OC Myriam more.

My favourite story this year: Tough one. This year I truly loved all of them, they all had their own challenges. What I liked about Intertwined was the explore Bella as a sister. What I liked about Underground Railroad was Isaac, and with him being the more broken one. And what I liked about Lagniappe was there was no Bella, no Cullens, no Twilight apart from subtle references.

But, I think it’ll have to be Underground Railroad.

My best story this year: The fanfiction.net stats say that Intertwined and Underground Railroad were my most popular
stories this year when it comes to views and reviews. Why? I think it was because of the use of Twilight in it. Twilight still has a large fandom base, probably more than Teen Wolf and The Originals/The Vampire Diaries combined. It’s just a little disheartening to see that some people just read because of the fandoms and not because of the author.

I LOVED Lagniappe. Despite it being written in 3 months as part of the Big Bang I organized, it was fun to play with the history of the Vampire Diaries and The Originals and insert Myriam into it. Which leads into the next question: Story most under-appreciated by the universe, according to me. It’s Lagniappe. It doesn’t get the views or reviews any of my other stories have, and that’s because I dropped Bella and Twilight from it. But it’s so good, and it deserves a chance. It was a breath of fresh air to write that one!

Most Fun story: Hands down Underground Railroad. Yes, it had its serious moments but the overall tone of the story was light. Fluffy. Positive. I love writing Isaac.

Most Sexy story: Intertwined has so much sexual tension, that it’s either painful or sexy. Or both.

Story with single sexiest moment: The scene in Underground Railroad in the beginning with Isaac and Bella in the truck on their way to Beacon Hills. The touching, the talking, the brushing… the level of comfort around them…

Hardest story to write: Underground Railroad. Like Lagniappe it required a lot of puzzling, but this was the worst. I had to re-watch the last season of Teen Wolf that I didn’t quite like to get a feel of the hunters, and why they were doing what they did.

Easiest story to write:  Lagniappe. Most of Myriam’s history I already knew, she’s my OC after all (that I share with Meeko). It was just a matter of weaving her into Klaus’ history and following the breadcrumbs.

Most “Holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story: If you’re still shocked by what I write and such… I’m sorry? I suppose Intertwined was quite wrong, especially the first few chapters of that story. But whatelse is new?

How many fic ideas am I nurturing right now? One. I’m currently writing a Bella/Kol for 2019. I had another Bella/Kol planned but I can’t make that story happen unless I turn someone into a giant asshole and I don’t want that to happen.

My writing resolution for 2017 was: NO MORE SEQUELS. And I didn’t! I was toying with the idea of writing a sequel to Between Heaven and Hell, but decided to keep the story going anyway. Sequels are still bad when you’re me.

My writing resolution for 2018: Let’s stick to the no more sequels thing 😉

Coming in 2019:

  1. Oh, you know the idea. You shot it down initially and then I couldn’t make it to work LOL. So that’s not going to happen 😉

  2. Hmmm… I wonder who it is you would be turning into an asshole…
