Cake!

You know, writing is fun, especially with a partner who’s equally as crazy as you are – if not a little bit more. In the last two weeks Meeko and I have been working on Gambling Hearts, an Arrow/Twilight crossover and we’ve written 17 chapters. The story is now finished – as of yesterday – and we’re proofing all chapters so we can get it to ff.net and on our web pages.

Writing is fun, because… well, just because you can make characters do what you want them to do (apart from having Bella and Oliver go on a dinner date… that didn’t work).

Meeko and I were surprised that no one else has done an Arrow/Twilight crossover yet. We’re the only ones at the moment and we feel like we’re pioneers! I mean, Twilight has over 11.000 crossovers, including ones with Batman (and My Little Pony, but let’s not speak of that), why not Arrow? Well, we’re glad we’re doing something about that. With Gambling Hearts and already a sequel in the works. I don’t like Twilight much (says me with all of the DVD’s and books) and I’m glad we’re able to give it our own spin, with Bella being a bad ass and not annoyingly whiny and the Cullen family being… no. Not going to spoil. You just have to read our story on my website or here at ff.net.

There’s also this; if you find all the easter eggs we’ve put in this story, you’ll get an exclusive preview to the sequel.

I do have to admit, writing with someone in a different time zone than yourself is challenging. Meeko’s 6 hours behind me when it comes to time and I often went to bed around 3 am just because we were having so much fun, I didn’t want it to end. I even ended up writing in bed and fall asleep much later at times as well. A week ago, we had a 12 hour skype session while we wrote and yesterday… 13 hours. I went to bed at 4 am, that’s probably why my brain is all frazzled now and doesn’t want to brain. My brain doesn’t want to brain. Woo! Cake!

Skyping while writing is the most fun part because you can instantly communicate to your partner what you’re thinking or ideas without having to type it out first in the document you’re using or on instant messenger. It’s also easier for when I – a non-native speaker of the English language – don’t know a word and I can just describe it and get the answer without leaving the document to go on a website to figure out what the hell I’m looking for. This doesn’t happen that often but it’s still so much fun.

Yesterday we entered the true editing stage of Gambling Hearts as we ended the story with a cliffhanger that will be resolved in the next installment of the adventures of Bella and Oliver and we discovered that Oliver CHUCKLES a lot. Oliver doesn’t chuckle. He just… no. No chuckle. I believe that in one chapter we had about 9 chuckle offenses and 6 of them were Oliver’s. I became the chuckle exterminator last night and we had so much fun on skype (and twitter, to be honest. Follow me there if you’re not already doing it) when eliminating all those chuckles.

Now, seeing as it’s almost time for Doctor Who, I’ll leave this blog here and until next time… cake!

Buggy.
